Red Spinach - Prawns Thoran



Ingredients

1.      Red Spinach – 1 Bunch.
2.      Prawns – ½ cup
3.      Turmeric powder – 12 tsp
4.    Chilli powder – ½ tsp
5.      Shallots (Button Onion) -5- 6 nos
6.    Garlic – 6-7 nos
7.    Turmeric Powder – ½ tsp
8.    Fresh Grated coconut – ½ cup
9.    Green chilli – 3-4 nos ( chopped)
10.  Salt – To taste
11.  Oil – 1 table spoon
12.  Mustard Seeds – ½ teaspoon
13.  Curry leaves - few

Method


  1. Cook the prawns with turmeric powder, chilli powder and salt. Keep it aside.
  2. Wash and clean  red spinach. Finely chop the spinach  and mix with coconut, green chilli, curry leaves and salt.
  3. Take a non stick pan. Heat oil. Then splutter mustard seeds and add the crushed onion and garlic. Stir for 2-3 minutes. Add turmeric powder and stir well.
  4. Then add spinach mix. Sprinkle some water over it. Mix well. Then cover the pan and cook in a low flame for about 5-8 minutes. Open the cover and add cooked prawns and mix well. Cover the pan again and cook it for 2-3 minutes. Open the pan and stir fry for another few seconds. Cheera – Chemmeen Thoran is ready for serving.
Note : You can use the same recipe with Achinga or Padavalanga instead of cheera
