Meen Peera Pattichathu



Ingredients
1.      Small Fish (Kozhuva / Natholi) – ½ kg
2.      Kukum star(Kudampuli) – 3 – 4 nos
3.      Small onions– 6 nos
4.      Ginger – 1” piece
5.      Garlic pods – 4 nos
6.      Green chillies – 3-4 nos
7.      Turmeric powder – ½ tsp
8.      Curry leaves – Plenty
9.      Grated coconut – 1 cup
10.  Cooking oil – 2 tsp
11.  Mustard – 1 tps
12.  Cococnut oil – 1 tbsp
13.  Salt – As reqd

How to prepare
  1. Wash kudampuli properly and soak it in a little water for some time.
  2. Heat oil in an earthen pot. Splutter mustard. Add crushed onion, garlic, ginger, chopped green chilli and curry leaves. Saute it for 2-3 minutes. Add turmeric powder. Stir well. Then add cleaned fish,curry leaves, grated coconut,  kudampuli and salt.  Add ¼  cup water. Stir well. Cover the pot. Cook it on a low flame. After 5 - 8  minutes, open the pot, pour 1 tsp coconut oil over it and stir well. Remove from fire.(The water should be evaporated completely). Serve it with rice.

Note: Remember to remove the kudampuli from the curry after some time or when the dish get enough sour taste.
