Chow Chow Thoran


Many of us don’t about Chow Chow. Here I’m preparing an easy and simple Thoran using Chow Chow.

                                       Ingredients

1.       Chow Chow– 3 Nos. (cut in to lengthwise very thinly)
2.       Shallots (Button Onion) -5- 6 nos
3.      Garlic – 6-7 nos
4.      Red Chilli – 3 – 4 Nos
5.      Turmeric Powder – ½ tsp
6.       Fresh Grated coconut – ½ cup
7.       Green chilly – 3-4 nos ( chopped)
8.       Salt – To taste
9.       Oil – 1 table spoon
10.   Mustard Seeds – ½ teaspoon
11.   Curry leaves - few

Method

  1. Take a non stick pan. Heat oil. Then splutter mustard seeds and add the crushed onion and garlic. Add dried red chillies and then curry leaves and turmeric powder and stir well.
  2. Then add chopped chow chow, green chilli, salt and coconut. Add ½ cup water. Mix well. Then cover the pan and cook in a low heat for about 10 - 15 minutes. Open the cover and stir fry for another few seconds. Chow - Chow Thoran is ready for serving.
