Broken Wheat Upma


Ingredients: 
1.     Broken wheat – 1 ½ cup
2.     Oil - 1 table spoon
3.     Mustard seeds -1 tsp
4.      Urad dal - 2 tsp
5.     Bengal Gram(channa dal) -2 tsp
6.     Big onion – 1 No
7.     Green chilli – 1 No
8.     Ginger – a small piece
9.     Curry leaves - 1 spring
10.    Salt to taste

How to Prepare
1.     Wash and soak the broken wheat for 3 – 4 hrs and drain out the water. Keep it aside.
2.     Finely chop onion, ginger and chilli.
3.     Heat oil, temper mustard and dals.
4.     Add onion, chilli, ginger and curry leaves and fry for 3 minutes.
5.     Add broken wheat and salt and stir for 2 more minutes.
6.     Add 1/4 cup (if need) of water and stir well.
7.     Cover and cook on a low flame for about 8 minutes or till done.
