Muringayila Sambar / Drumstick leaves sambar

Ingredients 
Toor dal - ¼ cup
Tomato - 1 medium 
Drumstick leaves - 1 cup
Turmeric powder - ¼ tspoon
Chilli powder - ½ tspoon
Sambar powder - 2 table spoon 
Asafoetida powder - ½ Tspoon
Oil - 2 - 3 table spoon
Mustard - ½ tapoon
Shallots - 6- 7 nos chopped
Curry leaves - few
Salt - to taste

Method of preparation 
Wash and drain toor dal thoroughly and add it to a pressure cooker.
Add chopped tomato, drumstick leaves, chilli powder, turmeric powder, salt and enough water. Close the cooker and cook well till a 6-7 whistle.
Allow it to release the pressure completely. The open the cooker and mash the veggies thoroughly. Keep it aside
Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds. When it starts spluttering, add chopped shallots and curry leaves. Saute well. 
Reduce the flame and add sambar powder and  asafoetida powder. Stir for 1 minute to get rid off the raw smell. Then add the mashed dal mix. Stir well and bring them to boil. Adjust the salt level. Stiwch off the flame.
Easy and healthy sambar is ready to serve.

Note:
There is some variations from traditional tamil muringai keerai sambar. Here I added sambar powder to get that sambar taste. 
If you need more tangy taste, you can add tamarind pulp, when you mix it with the sauted shallots. 
Also you can add finely chopped coriader leaves, just before switching off the flame to get the aroma.
